As the people from Chettinadu used to take long sea travels even before the British era they developed many savories that could be taken along during the voyage.
This Kara Seedai involves a hectic manual process, and it will lose its authentic taste when it is machine-made. Making small rolls is a tedious process when done manually so most of the preparations are replaced by either automated machines or rolls are made big. But in both alterations, the seedai will lose its original flavour and taste.
