Thoothukudi Macroon

Thoothukudi Macroon Thoothukudi macroons are specially made in the port town of thoothukudi. Cashew nuts, ground almonds make it delicious. Now you can buy it online here. Tuticorin is a port town in Tamil Nadu famous for its Macaroons. Macaroons in general are made from ground almonds. Tuticorin macaroons are different since they have cashew nut as their major ingredient. Tuticorin maccarons are basically European macaroons improved and indianised in Tuticorin. According to one story a baker from Tuticorin who went to Chennai learnt the recipe from an Anglo Indian over there and brought it to Tuticorin where he improved it.According to another story Portuguese sailors who came to Tuticorin used local labour for baking Macaroons who improved it to the present form. The main ingredients are Egg white,Fine Sugar and Cashew

 


Sattur Kara Sevu

The Sattur Sevu is a close cousin of the bhujiya, a thicker version though.Unlike in other places where channa dal (besan) is the main ingredient to make kara sevu dough, here rice flour is mixed with channa dal.

Palkova is a Delicious sweet made from Milk and Sugar. It is prepared by pouring lots of milk in the span and condensing it by boiling on a slow fire, to which sugar is added towards the end.
