The very mention of the name Seedai is sure to remind you of Krishna Jayanthi. Vella Seedai (Sweet seedai) is a traditional south indian savoury snack. The word "vella" in tamil denotes Vellam which means Jaggery. Vella cheedai is made by mixing jaggery syrup to add sweetness which going by Indian sweets is not that sweet. The main ingredients are rice flour, Urad dal flour and Jaggery. The thing about Seedai is that you'll never really realise that you finished a whole bowl of it! Kurukathy, a town near Vellakoil in Tamil Nadu, is known for Vella Seedai. Though it is just a small town, it is much sought after for its Seedai.
