Mostly these millets will be cultivated as Kattu Vellamai (The plants will grow using rain without irrigation or any manual cultivation methods). Because of this the Small Millets (Sirudhaniyangal) still retain its historical values.

Ragi (Finger Millet) is usally the first stable food that people in TamilNadu will start for their kids. As it is easy to digest it is provided in form of Kanji, Powder, Paal Mavu to kids. As it is very rich in Calcium it is very good for women. It is very much important to limit the usage of Rice and wheat in order add Millets like Kambu as part of our diet.     You used wheat and did not mention it in the purchase, Use besan or kadalai maavu instead of wheat. Many of us have a wheat gluten sensitivity
